The family business of Dr. Adel Batterjee started in 1975, which included a wide range of services, such as IT, Hospitality, Maintenance, Education, and Real-Estate. It was all managed by the founder. In 2009, and as part of a major restructuring effort of the group, a holding company was established under the name of “Waad Holding Company” with a capital of SR60 million. The main purpose was to centralize functions and form the core of a portfolio-based management company in the future. Waad Holding is an investment company, where education is the core sector for its investments with a special focus on general education.

Waad Holding Business units:

Since its foundation, Waad Holding has acquired three education companies; Dar Althikr for Boys, Waad Academy and Bloom Kindergarten. Waad Holding later acquired stakes in two other companies; Influence Branding, and Focal Buildings Solutions (FBS). Waad Holding also owns a minority share in Waad Real estate(Wrest). Waad Holding seeks to achieve a leading position in the education sector by integrating technology with education and applying a holistic heart, mind, and body approach

DR. ADEL BATTERJEE
Chairman

Dr. Adel Batterjee is the Chairman of Waad Holding and of Doroob Albarakah, a Saudi Businessman, an entrepreneur, and a philanthropist. After graduating from college, Dr Batterjee worked as a graduate assistant at King Fahd University for Petroleum & Minerals and later joined The Arabian Oil Company (Aramco) as a computer systems analyst where he spent approximately four years.
Dr. Adel started his first company, CAP Saudi Arabia, the first Saudi company specialized in computer analysis and programming in Riyadh in 1974 serving both government and private entities. Encouraged by the success of Cap Saudi Arabia, where it became one of the leading companies in the field in the country, he then proceeded with founding business entities in computer maintenance, hospitality, and construction.

Dr. Batterjee’s passion for education remained close to his heart, and that prompted him to establish
two private schools in Jeddah, his hometown, one for boys and the other for girls. Both school target middle
to upper class sectors of the society and provide programs to nourish giftedness. Having realized the need for targeting the gifted and talented, Dr. Batterjee pursued and received PhDs in Education and Psychology. In his first thesis, Dr. Batterjee developed a model to discover and nourish giftedness. Pursuant to his PhD, he worked on and published numerous papers on intelligence, education, and giftedness.

MRS. THURAYA A BATTERJEE

With a Bs in Economic and an MBA, Thuraya Adel Batterjee who is currently the COO of Waad Hooding joined Waad Holding Board of directors in 2018. She is also a Board Member of The Arab Children’s Books Publishers Forum. An award-winning, and community-oriented Executive, she has more than 15 years of experience in successfully delivering large scale operational initiatives that support business operations, services, and people management in the publishing and education sectors

MR. PATRICK SATAMIAN

Mr. Patrick Satamian a well-seasoned global executive has a Maurite Scientifique (BS) in business as well as in Social Studies.
He joined the Waad Holding Board in 2018.
Being responsible for 5$ billion dollars in revenues with multinational and regional businesses, Patrick has acquired over 31 years of experience in world-class multinational companies & leading regional family businesses, and has gained strong skills in business expansion & acceleration, culture shaping & evolution.

MR. HASAN ZAINI

Currently, Hasan is a Waad Holding Board Member and Deputy CEO of Modern Advertising Company. He holds Master’s degree from Harvard and an MBA King Fahad University for Petroleum and Minerals. Prior to moving to Modern Advertising, Hasan was Dar Al Thikr Schools for Boys Company CEO and Waad Holding COO. He also held several positions in marketing and advertising at both P&G and Safola.

MR. RAMI MAKAREM

With a BA and Masters in Business Administration, Mr. Makarem is an advisory board member in Finance, a certified public accountant by the American Institute of PA and a certified Management Accountant by the New Jersey Board.

He is a young leader with mature experience in managing & controlling finance as well as in
investing and divesting of companies in various sectors. He has the ability to globally deploy alternative investment portfolios, with leading global assets, wealth managers and banks.

Joining Waad Holding in Jun 2015, Mr. Amr Saudi brings in more than 28 years of experience in all aspects related to financial and treasury management, being historically associated with a number of leading businesses in versatile industries including engineering, contracting, telecommunications, manufacturing, servicing, retailing investment, marine, services and distribution. While his experience is mostly in the Arabian Gulf, he developed many banking relations with leading
financing institutions in the region and abroad.
During his career, Mr. Saudi led several ERP implementation projects and contributed to different mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Saudi is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Financial Manager (CFM), Certified Business Manager (CBM) and Quality Lead Assessor for ISO from leading professional institutions Worldwide.

MR. BADR AL-YOUSUF

Badr is a seasoned HR professional who has a BSc in Human Resources Management and Development from KAU,  he is also a Certified Human Resources Manager, a Strategic Workforce Planner and a SPHRi certified.

With his track record and demonstrated HR expertise, analytical mindset and faculty for creating and aligning HR and support services plans with business strategies, Badr was able to add value by driving change and helping to shape a progressive organizational culture within large scale family businesses operating in diverse industries.
